Jamie Lynn Spears Tearfully Shares Scary Details Of Daughter's ATV Accident

Jamie Lynn Spears got emotional recalling her daughter’s near-death experience.

During Thursday’s (May 14) appearance on Better Together with Maria Menounos, the country singer and actress revisited one of the scariest moments of her life when sharing heartbreaking details about her 11-year-old daughter Maddie’s 2017 ATV accident. Talking with Menounos, Jamie came to tears remembering when things were “not looking good” for the preteen following the scary incident.

As fans know, Jamie revealed Maddie had been riding on an ATV near family when she somehow drove the vehicle into the water. "We dove in and we were able to rescue her," she told Menounos. "When we were finally able to get her out of the water ... and the first responders took her from me, we thought she was gone. We thought we lost our daughter."

The mom, who also shares 2-year-old daughter IveyJoan with husband Jamie Watson, recalled feeling helpless.

"That moment, I felt everything that you can feel, I think, as far as the worst,” she went on. “There's nothing worse than looking at your child and just feeling that you've failed her. And I didn't want her to think that I couldn't save her."

Despite interventions from firefighters, who were able to get a pulse, Maddie’s dire condition required her to be airlifted to a nearby hospital.

"She wasn't responding to anything and so it was not looking good for us," recalled Jamie, who implored the hospital to let their priest pray for Maddie in the ICU. "He went to put the oil on her and read the rites and she sat up and started kicking, and her hands started grabbing at all the things. That was our first sign that she was there."

"I’ve faced my worst fear now. What else can I mess up or do wrong that will be as horrible as that? Nothing. There's nothing," Jamie continued. "God gave me the blessing of giving me my daughter back. I lost her and I got her back."

It’s been three years since Maddie survived the terrifying accident, and Jamie has celebrated her daughter’s “miracle anniversary” on every February 5 since then.
