Our spotlight artist is Matt Stell, who achieved a number one on the country charts with his debut single "Prayed For You." A 6'7" former college basketball standout, and a candidate for med school at Harvard, Matt was an unlikely candidate for country stardom. While in college, he taught himself to play guitar and moonlighted at local venues under a fake name after basketball practice. After finishing grad school, he dabbled further in country music, co-writing songs with Casey Donahew. His success writing songs with Casey led him to move to Nashville in 2014, and eventually released his debut EPEverywhere But On in 2019. Matt’s single "Prayed For You" caught on at country radio, eventually reaching #1. His follow up single "Everywhere But On" is already approaching top 10 and is certain to be another massive hit.
