Kenny Rogers The Gambler Earns a Huge Honor

Kenny Rogers' signature song "The Gambler" has received a huge honor this week, earning a place in the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress. Kenny's 1978 hit, penned by Don Schlitz, was one of the 25 recordings named to the National Recording Registry as part of its class of 2017, with some of the other titles including Tony Bennett's classic "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," "My Girl" by The Temptations and Kenny Loggins' mega-hit "Footloose," a song which Blake Shelton covered in 2011. These recordings, which were selected for their "cultural, historic and aesthetic importance to the American soundscape," bring the total number of titles on the registry to 500.
